It’s always inspiring to admire the work of talented designers, so before the holiday weekend commenced, I stopped by the fabulous Arthur Sachs Mansion on East 66th Street for the Decorator Show House that benefited the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.
In addition to seeing many beautiful rooms and concepts come to life, I was particularly inspired by some new materials that were used. One element in particular caught my attention–the ceramic slabs made to look like perfectly veined Carrara Marble in designer Clive Christian’s master bathroom created by AKDO. I was so intrigued that I had to open the shower to touch it to be sure it really wasn’t marble. You can also find an incredibly chic geometric bathroom floor by AKDO in designer Peter Sinnott’s bathroom.
Pavarini Design created a gorgeous room and made a bold statement with metallic wall covering surrounding the fireplace mantle. I also loved the choice of teal blue and the application of the decorative paint technique that appeared to change hues as you moved around the room.
