Eddie Martinez’s Blockhead Soup
Collective Design fair is one of my favorite design shows to attend in New York. Founded by the architect Steven Learner, it is intended to be both education and commercial. The show hosts 20th and 21st century galleries featuring some of the most innovative and well curated collections of furniture, lighting, sculpture, and fine as well as applied works of art. I was impressed with the popularity of ceramics and porcelains, especially Roberto Lugo’s Hip Hop Tea Pots that were featured in Introspective Magazine.
Throughout the weekend there was a packed schedule of lectures by inspirational leaders in the industries of art, design, and architecture from around the globe. If you missed it, here are a few highlights.

I have been obsessed with ceramics in contemporary form and designs. This masterful reinterpretation by Roberto Lugo has received accolades from around the globe and is nearly sold out after only the first day of the show.

My favorite piece from the entire show is from Chilean Artist, gt2P—
Marble vs Bronze Table, 2015. This piece is cast and set in bronze, brass, and marble is meticulously cut to surround metal.
from Friedman Benda

This cocktail table with a large geode surrounded by incredibly detailed mosaic was one of the crown jewels of the show.
