VT Home: Avant-Garde Style Type

VT Home Logo

In 2015, VT is pleased to announce our entry into home. Our motto has always been image, identity, clarity, and defining your style type gives you a place to begin. Once you have reached that clarity, it is a natural evolution to translate that into your environment as an expression of your authentic self.
Designing your home based on your style type (or at least infusing the elements) allows you to create the perfect space that represents the best version of you. Join us each week as we share our point of view on the incredible world of interior design, applying our principles and philosophies to everything from art and architecture to current trends and designers.

Our final VT Home style type after visiting classic, chic, whimsical, and bohemian, is avant-garde. The avant-garde style type is completely unique, and although it is quite contemporary, it also remains timeless. For interiors, this style type was born from the age of modernism. Mostly clean and architectural, its emphasis is often placed on form and function. Similar to the chic style type, avant-garde encompasses the idea of minimalism, and occasionally hints towards whimsical style, but in a masculine way. Monochromatic schemes quite often prevail, as do dramatic lines and geometric details. Below are some great examples of the avant-garde style type in home design.

When defining the style type for your home, it’s vital to consider whether timelessness is important to you. Avant-garde interiors withstand the test of time, just like the classic style type. From a fashion perspective, these designers epitomize avant-garde style: Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester and Rick Owens. – Joe
