As fall approaches, we would be doing a disservice not to emphasize the importance of shopping the new season proactively. We’ve already covered 5 tips to prepare your wardrobe for fall, hot picks from Bergdorf Goodman, and the trick of adding just a touch of the collections’ signatures to your wardrobe. On this #StyleTipTuesday we share with you why it’s important to shop multiple stores and boutiques before making buying decisions for our clients.
As personal stylists, our job is to be our clients’ eyes and ears at every boutique and department store. What makes department stores unique is that each one has their own point of view and their buys are different based on that point of view. It is important for us to preview many different interpretations of the season’s trends so that we can offer only the best of the best for each of our clients based on their own unique style. As a of fashion capital of the world, New York is a place where fashion happens with the most incredible stores to scour and an abundance of choices to make. Despite the fact that our business spans the entire country, we are based in New York for this very reason.

Lisa Marie at Dior Boutique NYC
As soon as fall collections roll in (typically, the second week of August and second week of September), the hunt begins. Thanks to relationships that we’ve nurtured over the past two decades, we now have insider access to pieces that will never even make it to the sales floor.
Last week, Lisa Marie joined me in New York and we did a boutique tour to shop for clients. We started uptown at Alexander McQueen, Celine, J. Mendel, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton – checking out Nicolas Ghesquière’s first collection for the brand, and wrapping up at Margiela and Jeffrey downtown.
Bottom line? Make sure you see different perspectives on the season’s trends before making your buying decisions!
