The trench is a must have for every fashion icon – a perennial piece that we all need in our wardrobe. As the seasons transition and the temperatures change, the trench becomes the ultimate go-to piece.
The history behind the trench coat goes back to Thomas Burberry (yes, that Burberry), who was the mastermind behind the design back in the 1880s. Used again by soldiers fighting in the harsh European winter battlefields of World War II, the style was adopted by Hollywood celebrities and volunteer entertainers performing for the troops overseas. Demobilized, the coat quickly became synonymous with every 1940s film noir’s protagonist and his beautiful femme fatale – quickly finding it’s way into women’s wardrobes.
