Inspired by writer, activist, and shipping heiress Nancy Cunard, Monhaparta chose to channel her fierce spirit through his designs.
“She broke barriers and stood for her beliefs,” says Mohapatra, who came across her biography while traveling across the Atlantic by boat (which happened to be a Cunard boat).
