Each year on the first Monday in May, high fashion and art meet with the Met Gala, the A-list only and highly exclusive fundraiser benefit for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Guests are encouraged to dress according to the upcoming costume exhibition and this year the theme was Comme Des Garçons by Rei Kawakubo. Even as stylists, “The art of the in-between” theme seemed like a challenging one, especially with the deconstructed and free form nature of Rei Kawakubo’s designs for Comme Des Garçons. Some guests chose to disregard the theme completely, while others (we’re looking at you Katy Perry!) went completely over the top.
