The grand staircase at the Met Museum for Met Gala 2013
Last night, punk took over the Met Museum. In celebration of the “Punk: Chaos to Couture” exhibition, the annual Costume Institute Gala brought together A-listers and socialites, who showed off their punk fashion. Some took the theme to heart with spikes, leather, asymmetric lines and bold headpieces, while other guests embraced only safety pins and bright eyeliner, proving that “Punk means different things to different people,” as Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton observed.

Our red carpet favorite was Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture. The zipper detail and edgy design of her dress was spot on with the theme. Her choice of slick dark hair and dark lips also complimented her look. Pretty in punk!
