Melinda Knight and Jesse
Inspiring Visual Therapy client, Dr. Melinda Knight made the stylish choice this weekend to join co-founder and lead stylist, Jesse Garza, here in New York to shop for her spring wardrobe. Melinda has been kind enough to share her wonderful experience, in this account of what boutiques she shopped at and her favorite looks that we lined up for her.
Here’s your visual guide showing how to touch on current trends and invest in pieces that will turn heads, as well as what styles work for your body and style type.
CLIENT: Melinda Knight, M.D.
ABOUT: A brilliant doctor, Melinda also has an amazing sense of style and a strong point of view. Fashion is her way to creatively express herself. Having a very busy lifestyle, she really counts on us to organize her looks the Visual Therapy way, and make them work for her social calendar. Spring/Summer is her favorite season to shop, because she’s very into lightweight feminine dinner/cocktail and evening wear.
STYLE TYPE: Chic/avant-garde/whimsical
COLORTYPE: Sun (refer to our book “Life In Color” for your most flattering shades)
Stop 1: Review at Langham Hotel

Melinda Knight & Jesse reviewing a Mary Katrantzou s/s 2014 dress
Trend: Graphic print
We started the day with a meeting at Dr. Knight’s hotel room at the Langham to review the pieces she had pre-shopped online at Net-a-Porter, Roland Mouret, Mary Katrantzou, and at Blake Chicago. After giving our final say on what’s a keeper, how to work our picks, and what isn’t optimal for real life, we hit the boutiques.
Stop 2: Dior

We bring our clients to the Dior VIP room where we have access to special pieces
Dior was our first stop. This season it is our go-to destination for ladylike modernist looks.

Stop 3: Barneys NY
Then, we stopped at the personal shopping floor at Barneys, where our picks were from Azzedine Alaia.

Stop 4: J. Mendel
J. Mendel was our next destination. Our longtime friend Gilles Mendel is a master when it comes to elegant luxury, and this season is no exception.

Stop 5: Céline
Our final stop was Céline – from season to season, it’s been one of our top collections. Even though Phoebe Philo’s designs have an avant-garde edge, we managed to stick with the pieces that read ladylike, feminine and glamorous.

This black modernist top can multi-task going from day to night. Dress it down by adding a pair of skinny white jeans, espadrilles, and a functional tote.
After the shopping, Melinda was on top of her game and ready for every event in her social calendar. To learn more about the Visual Therapy process, email us jill@visual-therapy.com or call us at 212.315.2233.
