We’ll be honest, we never thought we’d find the VT home aesthetic at a beach resort. But, tucked away in the Mayan Riviera of Mexico is Hotel Esencia, which we would describe as fresh and chic, glamorously unpretentious, and the ultimate in high brow bohemian luxury. It comes as no surprise that this resort was originally built as a Spanish style beach house for a sophisticated Italian Duchess.
We always love a good mix of antiques with modern pieces—this style was executed perfectly throughout Hotel Esencia. Bold white walls (as we mentioned recently here) worked as the ideal backdrop to showcase limited art pieces in every room. This hotel really is the epitome of warm and inviting minimalism.
What stood out the most were the fantastic chairs after Pierre Jeannerat and the antique Spanish sideboard. Being surrounded by these and other pieces that came from New York Bogus Design Studio made the hotel feel like home in the middle of paradise for an NYC based interior designer such as myself.
