After a very long, hot day in NYC, Jesse and I walked around the corner to the Paris Theater to catch Pierre Thoretton’s L’amour Fou (Crazy Love). This stylishly bittersweet documentary captured the never-ending love and commitment between fashion icon, Yves Saint Laurent and his longtime partner, Pierre Bergé.
This beautiful film focuses on the power couples’ love for each other, while capturing the brilliance of Saint Laurent, the price of his tortured creativity and the many struggles from the point of view of Bergé. It also provides a remarkable insider’s look at a love triangle between an astonishing collection of art and antiquities, how much it meant to Yves and how little it meant to Pierre without Yves.
Within the first five minutes, Jesse said I was giving the “Ugly Cry” face as Oprah would describe, but as it progressed, there were some wonderful lessons to learn from this piece about life, growing old, love, true happiness and the pursuit of beautiful things.
A must see in our humble opinions… – Joe
