5 Beautiful Style Moments in The Danish Girl

TheDanishGirl_Hero

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of catching the must-see The Danish Girl, a pseudo-biographical film set in 1920’s Denmark. The film depicts the transition of painter Lili Elbe—one of the first known transgender women to undergo sex reassignment surgery. We loved the story and the characters, but what we loved even more was the gorgeous period wardrobe and cinematography.

This season, we’ve noticed that trends from this particular time period are reappearing—between the velvet pieces at Givenchy and Balenciaga and the intricate embroidery at McQueen and Valentino—we can safely say that certain aspects of 1920’s fashion are definitely back.

Ahead are 5 of our favorite stylish stills from the film, featuring the two main characters—Lili and her wife Gerda in beautiful silks and furs, embroidered velvets, and Victorian inspired shoes and hats.
