Now that you’ve edited your closet, it’s time for the fun part—shopping for new spring clothes! And, if you’re still unsure about which pieces you need to update your warm weather wardrobe—don’t fret—because we’ve got you covered with the following list.
1. Trench Coat
An absolute must-have for any spring wardrobe, a trench coat (specially this season’s updated versions!) will always be the ultimate third piece for a look.
2. Cross-body Bag
As temperatures continue to rise, you’ll probably find yourself out and about enjoying the nice weather. The last thing you need is a large, heavy bag weighing you down. Try a small cross-body instead—they’re perfect for daytime errands, girls night out, and even date night.
3. Sneakers
Over the past few seasons, sneakers have become the shoe of choice for street style stars and real women alike. Try our favorite way to style comfy kicks—with feminine pieces such as dresses and skirts, and check out some of the biggest sneaker trends this summer here.
4. Sunglasses
Sunglasses are the most useful item on this list since it’s so important to protect your eyes from the sun’s rays. Not only that, but a pair of sunglasses that perfectly compliments your face shape can add the finishing touch to any outfit—we’re partial to versions by Céline, Thierry Lasry, and Dior.
5. Vintage Style Denim
A pair of high waisted vintage style jeans are a must-have this spring. If you’re lucky enough to find the a pair of vintage Levis that fit you perfectly, buy them immediately! If not, we love brands such as Amo and Re-Done that are making updated versions of this classic high waisted style. Dress up your denim with a printed blouse and the other it-shoe of the season—closed toe mules!
6. Reworked White Shirt
A classic white shirt should always have a place in your wardrobe but if the past couple of seasons have taught us anything, it’s that a white shirt doesn’t always have to be so predictable. We’ve seen off the shoulder versions, asymmetrical fastenings, oversized sleeves, and other unexpected detailing from various designers. We love the added edge it gives a timeless classic and you’ll need one this spring.
7. Kitten Heels
Last season it was all about the block heel sandal and while we do still love a good chunky heel, kitten heels are the new it-shoe of Spring 2017. Wear a pair to dress up a pair of jeans or maybe even with a wide leg track pant—it’s about the contrast.
8. Graphic Tee
Politically themed t-shirts were all the rage this past fashion week, and vintage style graphic tees continue to be on trend. Wear one casually with jeans and slides, or layered under a summer dress like blogger Pernille Teisbaek.
9. Statement booties
Stow away your black and brown booties in your off-season closet. Spring is all about the statement bootie—we love metallics, embroidery, snakeskin, and statement colors such as red and pink.
10. Roomy Tote
Along with a cross body, a large tote is a must for working women and mommies on the go. We’re partial to Céline’s horizontal Cabas tote and Proenza Schouler’s twist on a bucket bag—the Hex.
11. Stand-Out Earrings
Didn’t think we’d forget jewelry, right? This spring, we are all about unique modernist earrings that pop.
12. Statement Layer
Think an embroidered denim or bomber jacket, a silk floral duster, or a leather biker in a pop of color. We love the idea of throwing on a statement layer over a simple monochromatic outfit, use this easy formula when styling your all of you spring looks!
