In 2015, VT is pleased to announce our entry into home. Our motto has always been image, identity, clarity, and defining your style type gives you a place to begin. Once you have reached that clarity, it is a natural evolution to translate that into your environment as an expression of your authentic self.
Designing your home based on your style type (or at least infusing the elements) allows you to create the perfect space that represents the best version of you. Join us each week as we share our point of view on the incredible world of interior design, applying our principles and philosophies to everything from art and architecture to current trends and designers.
If on average we spend a third of our lives in bed, shouldn’t our bedrooms be worthy of our time? There are many components that go into creating magical bedrooms, from color to degree of comfort, from luxury to form. This week, I will explain what makes each bedroom I chose so special as we explore some of my favorites from around the world. I hope you find inspiration in some of these bedrooms of paradise.
An upholstered headboard or wall in a bedroom creates a very luxurious mood that can add a wonderful layer of texture while reducing sound. An entirely upholstered room is the ultimate in luxury, but I do like doing just the wall behind the bed to create a sleeping space rather than just a bed.
Minimalism is always calming in our sometimes chaotic world. Here are a few options using either all contemporary or a mix of vintage and contemporary pieces.
The warmth of natural wood is sexy and current. I love these two options for a classic or contemporary setting.
Goodness is glamorous!! This room by Jamie Drake at the new One57 Tower is very dramatic, complete with sprawling views and soothing lavender color palette and the custom brass laser cut in a backlit wall to compliment the skyline. I also admire a slightly less bold move in the next image if you’re just looking for a touch of glamour.
A sexy canopy bed is quite a statement in itself, as is a bold chandelier to complete an otherwise chic room. I am feeling a resurgence in the use of classics such as a Rococo bed in a contemporary room.
