TIME has released its annual list of The 100 Most Influential People in the world, highlighting the year’s biggest names. Representing the fashion front are model and coder Karlie Kloss and designers Riccardo Tisci and Guo Pei.
Tisci are Pei are honored in the “artists” category, while Kloss is listed as an “icon.”
“Karlie Kloss is the epitome of the ideal American Millennial woman,” Diane von Furstenberg wrote about Kloss. “As a model, a businesswoman, a young philanthropist and a force on social media, she doesn’t just connect with her generation—she leads it, inspiring young women around the world to become the women they want to be, just as she has done so beautifully.”
The model herself spoke about who she looks up to in her career. “Christy Turlington is my mentor, and I’m lucky to call her my friend…the way that she balanced her education and her career is something I really admire. It gave me a lot of courage to do the same.”
Kloss, who recently launched a coding initiative for girls called Kode with Klossy, said she truly values the importance of education. “I just really have a curiosity, and I think that you can’t turn that off,” she said. “I learned a bit about the technology industry, and I wanted to learn how it all worked. So I started taking some coding classes, and that was really the beginning.”
Time will celebrate the list with a gala on Tuesday at Lincoln Center in New York.
