Stylist’s Packing Tips: 10 Summer Vacation Essentials

Net A Porter The Edit

When you’re on vacation, focus on having fun instead of what you’re going to wear.  A good rule of thumb is to think in terms of looks when you’re packing, and know what you’re going to pair every piece with. Go for clothes that will multitask, taking you day into evening and remember that using statement accessories is key in creating completely different looks from staple basics.  To pack lightly, pull out all clothes and accessories you want to bring and then go through a process of elimination with a goal of cutting at least 30-40%. Here are the top 10 pieces to pack this season.

Start with pair of 100% UVA protection sunglasses that will go with everything – these Victoria Beckham mirrored aviators (1) will do the trick. A silk dress with trendy graphic print from Peter Pilotto (2) will take you from day into evening – pair it with fun neon flip flops from Havaianas during the day (3), and  Pedro Garcia Swarowski crystal embellished sandals (4) at night. A simple linen white Equipment shirt (5) will protect your skin from the sun – put it over a navy Orlebar Brown bikini (6) and denim shorts (7), and you’re ready to catch the breeze at a beach cafe. A straw fedora is a cooler version of your regular beach hat, as it translates from the beach to the city easily. Go for a neutral one like this Sensi Studio one (8). Bring a mini bag bag like the LRVT Demi V (9) to carry your essentials from poolside to dinner, and of course a chic Valentino rockstud tote (10) to carry on a plane, train or car. Now your mission is to go on a treasure hunt and find fun earrings, cuff or necklace at your vacation spot that will put a stamp of that place on your look, and will double as a souvenir. Don’t forget about sunscreen!
