“Nothing is how and where it should be, but yet it is. Gently.”

Clash. Juxtaposition. Contrast. These are all words that describe Pierpaolo Piccioli’s first solo Valentino collection. The conversation between classic, fantasy, structure, romanticism, and mathematics gave way to a compelling collection, one that we are looking forward to shopping this fall for our clients.

His mix of classic Victorian influences with the Memphis Movement was not expected but worked surprisingly well. The Memphis Movement was born in the ’80s by a group of Italian designers who incorporated asymmetrical shapes, colorful decor, and futuristic objects into interior design.

Romanticism and mathematics were seen in the pops of color, carpet textiles, numbers, symbols, and graphics placed on the Victorian influenced silhouettes. Overall, we were impressed with the collection and believe this line is incredibly wearable.
