Paris: Photo Diary

Lisa Marie in Paris

Arriving in Paris, from the second we walked into the Banke Hôtel (which actually used to be a bank), Lisa Marie and I instantly felt like we were in a movie. It seemed like everything unfolded magically. The balance between touring the city and attending the Couture shows for us was perfect. Once we settled in, our first stop had to be the Ferris wheel. The views of the city were simply amazing, and it was one of my favorite things to do!

The two absolute places to be for good food and incredible people watching is L’Avenue and the restaurant at Hotel Costes. They quickly became our go-to spots for lunch, dinner and meetings. We bumped into Rihanna lunching at the next table, and André Leon Talley holding court at L’Avenue.

The excitement was coming back to the hotel at the end of each day and finding Couture invites under our doors. There’s something very special about the ritual of preparation for a Haute Couture show. You’re preparing yourself to step into a fantasy world, and when you enter the venue,  it’s showtime. Not just the runway one, but also the one in the audience. Getting into the mode of the collection and playing a character is part of the game. When I met Lisa Marie in the lobby before we headed out to each show, I always felt butterflies of excitement to get on that haute couture “red carpet”.

The whole trip felt like stepping in and out of a dreamscape. And the most amazing thing is that there’s no other city where fantasy and reality blur like they do in Paris. J’Adore Paris!  -Jesse
