All the puffer coats in my personal wardrobe are by Moncler — they’re warm and flattering, with zippers and pockets all in the right places, and I was excited (along with my Valentine Lisa Marie McComb) to see how the pieces would translate on the New York Fashion Week runway.
Admittedly, the Moncler Grenoble Fall 2015 collection was the most extravagant fashion presentation we’ve seen (besides John Galliano’s fashion productions). Held at a Brooklyn warehouse, it reminded us of the Dior Cruise 2015 runway show held — refreshingly — at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The collection was presented via 25 couples who sprung forth on hydraulic lifts from a human-size crimson heart-shaped box (which took a team of 250 a week to construct) to the tunes of the Bee Gees and Donna Summer, in the true spirit of Valentine’s Day. It felt almost like a couture show of ski wear, featuring functional luxury with elements of retro and equestrian style (my favorite!).
The grand finale was the bride and groom (in black and white, the Moncler way) starting the biggest makeout session in fashion week history.
