Gucci set the stage in a penthouse suite of the Carlyle Hotel to present Cruise 2015. As a stylist, I’m always excited to go to fashion shows and preview presentations to get inspired by designers and collections. As I review the pieces and looks, I visualize each client, what would work for them, and how I would incorporate the piece or look into wardrobes. With a classic base and sexy modern twist that only Gucci successfully achieves, I can’t wait to line up those wardrobes in the upcoming Resort season.

When art and fashion come together, the result is always special. For prints, Giannini collaborated with artist Kris Knight who selected plants that have historically been used by women to seduce, command power over men, or otherwise provide protection. “I went beyond the flower box and picked botanicals that either blossomed at night, dawn, or dusk, but also chose plants that have strong roots for adaptability, persistence, and resistance in harsh environments,” says Knight.
Another detail worth mentioning were the leather goods. Chic, modern and functional, clutches, bags and even scarves were off the charts. The market is always flooded with designer bags, but these are the pieces that are going to stand out with their impeccable design and quality – becoming the new “it bags.” My personal favorite detail is that the logo has been reduced to an understated signature. The pieces were iconic, and will translate for any age, leaving the wearer full capacity to make them her own. Go Frida!
