Inspired by 1970’s night life and legendary musician Elton John, Alessandro Michele’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection for Gucci paid homage to the fantasy and romance associated with that era.
Just when you think you know what direction the eccentric designer will take the brand, Michele manages to surprise with an even more extraordinary collection of nerdy-chic, highly detailed specialty pieces.
As we’ve said previously, it’s important for our team of stylists to attend VIP previews of designer collections to learn about each individual piece, the inspiration behind them, and the various fabrications. Patrice Venditti, buyer for Gucci North America walked us through the collection at the brand’s headquarters in the Financial District, which was nothing short of magical.
Although we loved the fantasy aspect of the collection, our job as personal stylists is to keep things real and wearable for our clients, so we’re looking forward to shopping the strong basics and core pieces from the collection come Spring.
