Bottega Veneta is the New Old Céline

Just when we thought we were finally over Phoebe Philo’s departure from Céline, we’re treated to the delight that is Daniel Lee—Bottega Veneta’s new 32-year-old creative director. Lee is not exactly brand-new—this is his second season as designer for the fashion house—but he’s already proven he’s got talent and vision to spare. It’s also no surprise that Lee comes from the school of Philo with a previous role as Director of Ready-to-Wear at Céline pre Hedi Slimane.

But let’s get to the clothes, because what we saw come down the runway in Milan was truly excellent. Following the hype around his two most popular accessories to date—the Phoebe approved Pouch and the quilted square toe sandals—he continued to shine with the easy sportswear inspired designs he showed in his Spring 2020 collection. We were specially impressed by the sleek outerwear offerings, his minimalist knitwear, and of course, the thoughtfully designed shoes and bags. Our favorite looks from the collection are below, keep checking back for more Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta coverage in the coming seasons.
