At Visual Therapy, we’re all about Mind, Body, and Soul. As we work with clients to line up their optimal wardrobes and help them to be the best version of themselves, we’re huge believers that it’s not the dress, but what’s in the dress that matters. And even though clothes can help you feel like a movie star, there’s something that needs to be taken care of first on a deeper level. Welcome to “Wellness Wednesdays”: our weekly feature to bring you tips for a healthy, whole and fulfilled life.
If you have an Instagram account, we bet Kayla Itsines (seen in our list of top fitness Instagrams to follow) doesn’t need an introduction. This twenty-something Aussie personal trainer turned the fitness industry upside down with her Bikini Body Guide, a 12-week workout program that turned into its own social media movement (just check out hashtag #BBG).
Here, Kayla Itsines shares her tips to staying fit this season, originally published on MoveNourishBelieve.com.
1. ENJOY SEASONAL PRODUCE
Take advantage of the amazing assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables that are in season over summer and nourish your body! My favourite summer fruit is mango. You’ll definitely find me eating mango as an afternoon snack this summer.
2. WEAR YOUR MOTIVATION
Stay motivated by treating yourself to some new summer workout clothes! Let your new outfit act as motivation to get out in the sun and show off your new ‘kit’. There’s nothing better than training outdoors in some bright and fresh workout gear!

3. TIME YOUR WORKOUTS
Use the warm summer mornings to kick-start your metabolism by beginning each day with a fast-paced walk before it gets too hot! Same goes with the beautiful summer evenings, head down to the beach with a group of girlfriends and watch the sunset while you powerwalk along the sand.
Keeping active with friends is a great way to stay motivated and keep fit. In addition to beach walks, look into gym classes or particular exercise regimes that work for all of you and motivate each other to get moving over the summer break! Surrounding yourself with people that support you will make keeping fit this summer, so much easier.
4. GET OUTDOORS
Train outdoors. As I’ve mentioned, utilize the warm mornings and nights to get your blood pumping! My go-to workouts are from my training guides. These allow you to train at a high intensity for a short amount of time outside or from the comfort of your own home!
Find something that works for YOU and stick to it! Consistency and dedication is the key this summer. Anyone can find time for a quick 28-minute workout. You’ll feel amazing!
5. WHAT I AM EATING…
TRY THIS! My favorite summer salad: Chop up red onion, capsicum, cherry tomatoes, bocconcini, basil and put into a bowl. Add corn, tuna, olive oil and balsamic dressing and voila! It might seem like much but it will surprise you how delicious and filling it really is.
There you have it, 5 things that I’ll certainly be seen doing during the summertime! Remember to be consistent and dedicate yourself to regular exercise, nourish your body by fueling it with the right foods and surround yourself with people that make you happy and support your goals! Use all of these tips so that you can feel confident this summer (and don’t forget to practice sun smarts).
