At Visual Therapy, we’re all about Mind, Body, and Soul. As we work with clients to line up their optimal wardrobes and help them to be the best version of themselves, we’re huge believers that it’s not the dress, but what’s in the dress that matters. And even though clothes can help you feel like a movie star, there’s something that needs to be taken care of first on a deeper level. Welcome to “Wellness Wednesday”: our weekly feature to bring you tips for a healthy, whole and fulfilled life.
In this week’s edition, we’re reviewing our favorite hybrid workouts in New York City.
WHERE: The Movement Fitness
WHO: Heidi Kristoffer, yogi and founder of CrossFlowX
WHAT’S THE HYPE: If you’re like me and enjoy both yoga and a high intensity cardio, then I bet you’ve found yourself having to decide between the two on your workout days. CrossFlowX solves that problem by blending high intensity cardio, martial arts, yoga and kundalini kriyas. This 55-minute class with amazing music will leave you not only feeling strong and energized, but totally clear-headed. Bonus: The Movement donates $1 per person per class to the National Brain Tumor Society.
WHERE: 291 Broadway, New York
WHO: Taryn Toomey, founder of The Class
WHAT’S THE HYPE: The Class is officially a cult sweat obsession in NYC, and for a good reason. There’s an element of mystery to it: whenever you ask regulars what it’s like, the answer is usually the brief “It’s an experience. You have to try it for yourself.”
Described by its founder Taryn Toomey as “a morph of yoga-based breath and meditation, all the grounding parts of yoga, coupled with a sculpting, bootcamp style class,” the 1 hour and 5 minute The Class will help you not only get a strong, lean body, but also shed thoughts that don’t serve you anymore. Our new favorite way to start the day!
WHERE: The Bari Studio (New York, New Jersey, California)
WHO: Alexandra Bonetti Perez, founder of The Bari Studios
WHAT’S THE HYPE: A trampoline-based high-cardio class, BariBounce is a super fun way to build full-body strength. Bouncing on a trampoline not only brings out your inner child, but also challenges your balance. The thing is, with trampoline workouts, even when you want to stop, the trampoline will keep you bouncing! A “Go big or go home” writing on the mirror helps to push your limit of comfort. Ashley Wilking is our go-to girl when it comes to intense, sweaty and extremely enjoyable bounce (eyeing her gorgeous Under Armour workout looks helps, too).
