Did you open your closet this morning and realize: it’s way too chilly for a skirt but it’s not quite cold enough for wool tights? Well, ladies, that’s because we have entered Leather Weather. So maybe we did just make up that term, but trust us when we say, leather pants are going to be your new best friend this fall, whether you’re going to the office or just pounding the leaf-covered pavements.
Here are five ways to rock leather pants for each of our five style types.
CLASSIC STYLE TYPE: LEATHER & DENIM
A denim shirt on its own might seem too casual for work, but pair it with fitted leather pants and some heels a la Olivia Palermo and you’ve got yourself a comfy and stylish daytime look. Still feeling chilly? Throw a black blazer over your shoulders; plus, it’ll instantly make your look more sophisticated.
CHIC STYLE TYPE: LEATHER & NEUTRALS
Pair your leather pieces with neutrals to tone it down. A chic grey bag and shoes will keep the leather trend off the dance floor and appropriate for daytime and office.
WHIMSICAL STYLE TYPE: PLAYFUL & FLORAL
If you’re whimsical, your style is playful and youthful. Pair your leather pants with a floral jacket, and of course an accessory with a pink element. Logos? Bring them on. This look is great if you’re in your teens and early twenties (or for little wee tots!).
BOHEMIAN STYLE TYPE: LEATHER LEGGINGS
Pretend your leather pants are leggings and you’ll get so many more styling options. For example, remember that maxi dress you retired after summer? Dig it back out, wear it over your leather pants and you’ve got yourself a fall ensemble for that flowy, earthy bohemian look.
AVANT-GARDE STYLE TYPE: BLACK & WHITE
While white is typically associated with summer, and leather with winter, pairing leather pants with a white top feels fresh. With asymmetric edgy lines, this look is the perfect example of an avant-garde look, where your clothes become an extension of your creativity.
