Once again Karl Lagerfeld and team Chanel created a complete transformation of the space at the Grand Palais. Made to look like a bustling city Boulevard, it featured a gorgeous atrium, and patrons created the morning rush and chaos of a very fashionable city.
I had to have my Beatles moment in the crosswalk…complete with a “stray” dog. Do stray dogs usually wear Chanel collars?
They even added puddles for that “it rained overnight” feel.
Jesse meeting Steve Harvey
Guests at the show, seated on bleachers, await the parade of SS’15 Chanel fashion.
1/2 of my favorite style couple in Paris!
What a gorgeous skirt!
The show opened with models walking in groups and singles just as a normal Boulevard… well, one that had striking 6-foot women dressed head to toe in Chanel! Gisele made a guest appearance looking gorgeous! The show ended with a “demonstration” with a message of women taking charge of their image, blurring classic feminist and fashionista lines.
Taking it to the streets is a time-honored French tradition. Speaking after the show, Lagerfeld said the show had been inspired by the many challenges women still face today and explained that he feared the cause of equality was currently moving backward not forward. “I thought it was fun to make a demonstration about a subject I can very well adapt to,” he said. “My mother was a feminist, and I was brought up with a history of that.”
Karl…off to Starbucks as Jesse and I say.
“Be your own stylist” but let VT help!
Leaving the show….the crush of photographers and on lookers.
