Life In Color

As we line up our getaway wardrobes for Resort this season, I’m going to use these first two images from Life In Color as my inspiration, and starting point. What I have learned throughout the years is that you always need to have a balance of fantasy and reality. One season I presented an “over the top” caftan to a client saying that they could wear this to sashay around the deck of a yacht sipping champagne while watching the sunset. Her response was: “That’s not real, maybe for a special occasion. I need to be comfortable, something that is breathable and doesn’t say, here she comes!”

This is the time where white is number one on my list. Just make sure that you pop this look with metallics and neutrals, so you don’t look too clinical. This is also a time for “wow” colors such as turquoise and coral and of course, fabulous prints. My favorite pieces so far this season are from Etro, Missoni and Pucci.

When it comes to sun hats, get inspired by my top picks! The Picardie from Hermes is good for boating, the fedora from Patricia Underwood is great for shopping and the wide brim straw hat from Patricia Underwood is good for sun protection. One of my favorite beach totes is this canvas one with natural leather straps from Hermes. It comes in an assortment of great colors and can also be used as a city tote. My other pick is from Goyard. It is waterproof and indestructible, perfect for pool side. Adding your monogram is always fabulous touch.
