All That Glitters is Bold: Jewels by JAR

Joe and Jesse at the Met Museum

Joe and Jesse at the Met Museum

Jesse and I were so inspired to see Jewels by Jar at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last week. The exhibition contains 400 pieces by designer Joel A. Rosenthal, or JAR, who is the first living jeweler to have a retrospective at the Met. Born in New York, Rosenthal moved to Paris in 1966 after graduating from Harvard and opened his own (incredibly exclusive and nearly impossible to get into) store in 1978 on the Place Vendôme—the same space he occupies today. The exhibit is, without question, the most extraordinary collection of work we have ever seen. Most impressive is his incredible eye for color, not to mention original design and genius craftsmanship.  The majority of the pieces in the exhibition are on loan from private collectors across the globe, so don’t miss the opportunity to catch this! If you’re not in New York, here’s your virtual tour featuring our favorite pieces.  -Joe and Jesse
