As a fellow Australian and a supporter of the fashion industry Down Under, I watched the collections at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia SS 14/15 very closely, and with great pride and excitement.

Juxtaposing the raver, club-kid vibe that dominated the street-style snaps of the fashion bloggers each day, the standout collections were the epitome of minimal, modern and stark.
My Top 4 Favorite collections were:

Dion Lee MBFWA Spring/Summer 2014
1. Dion Lee – I saw his show here in New York back in February, where the Australian theme was quite strong, however this collection pushed it further with elements of sports, faded denim and skin baring crops and cut-outs – very much the Sydney style. Having said this – it was pulled off with a modern and clean line, and in a way that every woman will want to wear it.

Michael LoSordo MBFWA Spring/Summer 2014
2. Michael LoSordo – Fresh, free-form and feminine – Michael has managed to leave girly out of the equation in his collection, but made room for a strong but sensual woman in looks for every day and a few for a fabulous summer night. I am all about adding a slip-on sneaker to a world of stripes and shirting – classic, comfort chic!

strateas carlucci MBFWA Spring/Summer 2014
3. Strateas Carlucci – A label I am happy to have just discovered! A wardrobe for the woman who knows who she is, who wants functionality as well as a sleek line – I want in on this collection NOW!

Kym Ellery MBFWA Spring/Summer 2014
4. Kym Ellery – Attention to detail – Kym has made a collection that plays once again on proportions, details and keeps color to a minimum – a few shades of avant-garde if you will!
If I had my way, I would love these collections from my top four designers to be ready this season for the breaking spring here in New York! -Anouk
