Winter is winding down and spring is right around the corner, which means it’s time to start rotating your closet! Ahead, we’ve got four tips to help make sure your wardrobe is in tip top shape for the warmer months ahead.
1. Rotate
Move your spring clothing to the front of your closet and stow away off-season pieces so that they don’t distract you as you choose an outfit. We also recommend arranging by category and color, trust us—this tip will save you a ton of time during rushed mornings.
2. Edit
If you can’t remember the last time you wore something, there’s usually a reason why. It might be time to part with it.
But at the same time…
3. Revisit
The biggest mistake you can make with a wardrobe clear out is not giving your old clothing the chance to live a new life! Though there are probably a few things you should edit from your wardrobe, there might be a few pieces that just need a little updating.
An old skirt can be hemmed, a vintage jacket can be tailored, a dress can be taken in—these are simple tricks that can make things new again. It’s also much more cost effective to update existing pieces by taking them to your local tailor than to buy a whole new wardrobe every season.
4. Reinvent
Fashion goes in cycles, which means something from several seasons ago may just be the hottest trend right now! One of our favorite trends of the moment is the satin slip dress with everyone from Nina Ricci to Celine doing interpretations of the ’90s staple.
It also happens to be something most women already own! But, forget about wearing yours as an underpinning like you would have in the past. Instead, wear one as a dress for a sexy night out or with a cropped bomber jacket to really channel that ’90s vibe.
In the end, you may not have to do as much shopping as you anticipated!
